Elk River played in one of the earliest recorded football games in state history (1891-1892, defeated Monticello 29-0 & 4-0) and there are records of them completing 125 seasons of varsity football through the 2016 season. Elk River football has grown from a small rural program to a major suburban program in that time.  There have been many great players and coaches / Elk River has fielded teams through the Depression and two World Wars.  There are families that have had three generations of players.
